Abuja residents beg seek security operatives’ return

As traffic gridlocks continue to hamper movements on Abuja roads, residents have urged security operatives, especially traffic management officials, to resume work.

Our correspondent’s findings revealed that the gridlock is occasioned by the disappearance of security operatives from roads due to the prolonged #EndSARS protests that led to the destruction of private and public property and death of security operatives.

President of Road Users Development Network of Nigeria, Dr. John Uket, spoke during a one-day national dialogue on traffic management at the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA) Hall in Abuja.

Uket said he observed that the renewed traffic situation in Abuja and Lagos was “as a result of the absence of road traffic personnel from agencies, such as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Police Force, Department of Road Traffic Services (VIO), LASTMA and others who have left the roads unattended to for the fear of the mayhem of the recent uprisings”.

He added: “In the past few weeks, our nation witnessed an unprecedented turn of events, which has hampered our socio-economic activities of which road traffic is its pivot.
