Police arrest Sergeant who shot lover
The Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested the cop who allegedly shot his ex-lover, Joy Eze, at Opebi, Ikeja.
The suspect, Sergeant Eze Aiwansone, attached to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 16, Ikeja, was alleged to have shot the victim on October 8 after inviting her on a date.
Sergeant Aiwansone who fled after the alleged crime, was arrested by his elder brother, an Inspector of Police and handed over to the command, spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a statement Thursday evening.
“The State CID Panti has taken over the case on the instruction of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, for further investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police has warned police personnel in Lagos State to desist from any act that can tarnish the image of the police; and be committed to the principles of Community Policing for better service delivery and public safety in the state,” said Adejobi.
