VIDEO: Fire guts popular Apongbon Lagos market, Nigeria
Fire gutted shops under the Apongbon section of the Eko Bridge in Lagos State on Wednesday.
Although details of the fire and its cause are still sketchy, it was gathered that it started in the morning. The incident caused gridlock and crippled commercial activities around the Lagos Island area of the state.
Some vehicles parked under the bridge were also gutted by the fire which has enveloped a large section of the bridge.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) are currently at the market trying to put out the fire and control traffic.
