Josephine Tewson, who starred in Last of the Summer Wine and Keeping Up Appearances, passed away at the age of 91, her agent announced.

On Thursday evening, the British sitcom actress passed away “peacefully” at Denville Hall.

At the age of 91, Josephine passed away quietly yesterday night at Denville Hall.

After starting her acting career in the early 1950s, Josephine had a dazzling TV career.

On social media, tributes to the actress have already started to come in, as one admirer noted: “In Hyacinth’s kitchen, she has shaken her final teacup. Godspeed, Josephine Tewson.” Wife of late Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis, Carol Challis, continued: “Josephine Tewson, goodbye. John cherished their collaboration on Last of the Summer Wine. One more gone.”

Another supporter added: “Thanks for all the laughter, Josephine Tewson, may you rest in peace. Keeping up appearances with Elizabeth “.

In a recent interview, Josephine discussed her intention to begin acting and thanked Ronnie Barker for allowing her to follow her ambition.
