Google Doodle honours Hong Kong’s Lydia Tin Ha Sum
The heart-warming doodle sees Lydia through the various stages of her life and career. She is donning her signature short hair and dark-rimmed spectacles.
The July 21st Google Doodle comes on Lydia’s 77th birthday.
Lydia had a glorious career in show business. She was not only loved as a comedian but also revered as an actress capable of portraying many relatable roles.
The star is best known for her roles in the It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World franchise, Double Fattiness (1988), and A Recipe for the Heart (1997). Despite being Chinese, she also starred in a hit Singaporean sitcom.
The Google Doodle on July 21st celebrates the actress, who is affectionately known as “Fei Fei” (meaning “Fat Fat” in Cantonese).
Lydia was born in Shanghai on this day in 1945. She started her acting career at a young age with the Shaw Brothers Studio, Hong Kong’s largest production company at the time.
Her breakout role came in 1967 when she was cast in a popular show called “Enjoy Yourself Tonight.”
