Marquinhos has joined Arsenal from Brazilian club Sao Paulo in a cut-price deal
Arsenal have completed their first summer transfer window signing by signing Brazilian prospect Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.
The 19-year-old forward, who primarily plays as a right winger, has made 22 appearances in Brazil’s top flight.
The Gunners are thought to be paying a bargain fee of around £3 million due to an alleged loophole in his contract, which has sparked controversy in his homeland.
Marquinhos, a native of Sao Paulo, has represented Brazil at the youth level and is expected to have a bright future.
Mikel Arteta will get a good look at the youngster during pre-season, and he will join compatriots Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli at the Emirates Stadium, subject to “the completion of the transfer.”
