Watch!!: Finland’s ‘Prime Minister’ Sanna Marin faces backlash after video of her dancing in a ‘party’ surfaced online(video/photos)
Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, is perhaps the most enjoyable EU leader to go out with.
In recent films shared on social media, the prime minister was seen partying with a number of Finnish celebrities, including politician Ilmari Nurminen and news presenter Tinni Wikström, according to the Finnish newspaper Iltalehti.
According to Finnish media, the leaked video shows Marin dancing wildly with several friends as people can be heard shouting about cocaine in the background. The video was spread across several clips on Instagram Stories.
The prime minister was requested to submit to a drug test and make the results public by Centre Party member and Finnish MP Mikko Kärnä. He tweeted, “The people are allowed to demand this from their prime minister.”
Marin declared she had “nothing to conceal or hide” during a press appearance on Thursday morning, denying that she had ever used narcotics.
The prime minister declared, “I have danced, sang, celebrated, and done lawful things. Marin clarified that she wasn’t binge drinking.
She insulted the leaker as well. “I believed they wouldn’t be publicized because the recordings are private and were released at a private event,” Marin added. The fact that they were published “feels awful.”
The videos have elicited a range of responses online, with some detractors criticizing Marin for what they see to be reckless behavior and others seeing a possible boost to the 36-year-old prime minister’s popularity.Last December, Marin came under fire for going out the night after a coworker in the government tested positive for coronavirus.
