Newcastle set to sign Real Sociedad ‘Alexander Isak’
Alexander Isak, a 22-year-old attacker, is said to have been signed by Newcastle from Real Sociedad.
The Swedish forward has been connected with numerous teams during this transfer window and previous ones, but according to the Spanish publication Diario Vasco, Isak appears to be finally leaving La Real this time.
Callum Wilson, the main goal scorer for the Magpies right now, reported hamstring tightness during his team’s 3-3 Premier League draw with Manchester City last Sunday. Wilson was eventually forced to leave the game on the 70-minute mark, which led manager Eddie Howe to suggest he was looking for reinforcements in that area of the team.
The fact that the Toon rushed so fast to sign Sweden’s Isak also shows that Wilson’s health may not be as good as it appears, or else that they are simply eager to have backup and competition for the English striker.
Isak worked his way up at AIK in Stockholm before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2017. He scored against Barcelona last Sunday in La Liga.
He stayed there for two years, spending time on loan at Willem II in the Netherlands, before Sociedad purchased him for £13.5 million in the summer of 2019.
He has earned Sweden’s U-17, U-19, and U-21 caps and has since made 37 appearances with nine goals for the senior team.
