U.S. Rep Jackie Walorski killed in Elkhart County crash

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-2nd District) died in an automobile accident on Wednesday in Elkhart County.

According to police, the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. with Walorski and two other people in a car traveling south on Indiana 19 near Wakarusa.

Three additional people were killed in the accident. Northbound traffic struck the Walorski vehicle.

Walorski was not alone in the car at the time; Zach Potts and Emma Thomson, both 27 years old, also perished in the collision.

Police in Elkhart County are currently looking into the collision. Edith Schmucker, 56, of Nappanee, was the driver of the northbound vehicle; she was declared deceased at the scene on Wednesday afternoon.
