Boxing: Michael Conlan overcame Miguel Marriaga on Saturday night
On Saturday night, Michael Conlan overcame some late drama to defeat Miguel Marriaga with ease.
The Belfast featherweight recovered from his knockout loss to Leigh Wood in March by winning by unanimous decision.
The final score was 99-88 for the first two judges and 99-89 for the third.
Conlan was buzzed in the final round as he dove on the ropes by a right hand, but it wasn’t without drama.
Although this time Conlan proved his mettle with a rollicking finish to ease to victory, it was almost exactly like Nottingham all over again.

In a tough battle, Tyrone McKenna narrowly defeated Chris Jenkins. A judge gave it a 96-95, a 97-94, and a 97-94 rating.
Colm Murphy defeated Ruadhan Farrell to win the BUI Celtic featherweight championship on the same night. Although it was a fantastic fight between two unbeaten prospects, Murphy had the advantage and won 79–74.
Additionally, Kurt Walker easily advanced to 3-0 with a simple 59-55 victory over Marcos Martinez, while Sean McComb easily defeated Ramiro Blanco in a nonchalant manner.
