Twitter Layoffs: Elon Musk begins ‘mass layoffs’ of staffs after buying Twitter
The anxiously anticipated time has finally come.
This Friday, November 4, mass layoffs at Twitter (TWTR) will start.
The social network is beginning a new era with an austerity cure intended to substantially cut costs as the new owner seeks new sources of money to redesign the platform, less than a week after billionaire Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk assumed control.
An internal email sent to the company’s 7,500 employees informs them that they will receive an email regarding their jobs this Friday, November 4. Around 9 a.m. PT, the email will arrive. San Francisco serves as the home base for Twitter.
“By 9AM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line: Your Role at Twitter. Please check your email, including your spam folder. If your employment is not impacted, you will receive a notification via your Twitter email.”
But “if your employment is impacted, you will receive a notification with next steps via your personal email If you do not receive an email from twitter-hr@by 5PM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, please email [email protected].”
In all, Musk plans to cut half of the jobs, or 3,700 jobs.
