Brooklyn Nets: Kyrie Irving suspended for antisemitic post
The minimum five-game suspension is without pay and will be lifted provided the player “satisfies a number of objective rehabilitative actions,” according to the team.
When questioned about his antisemitic views earlier in the day at a press conference, Irving responded, “You guys heard what I had to say. I honor and embrace people from all walks of life. I am seated there. If I am aware of my origins, I cannot harbor anti-Semitic views.”
The Nets expressed disappointment at Irving’s failure to “unequivocally proclaim he has no antisemitic ideas” when given the chance in their statement.
A few hours following the team’s statement, Irving apologized via Instagram.
