Gunmen abduct police inspector, five others in Adamawa
Gunmen have abducted a police inspector, a Councillor, two wives of a famous hunter and two other persons in Koma, a famous rural community in Adamawa State.
The assailants seized the six from their homes during what has been described as a daring night raid in the otherwise quiet Koma settlement in Jada local government area.
The Nation gathered in the course of the operation in the early hours of Thursday, the assailants killed one resident who might have come across as a threat.
The gunmen were said to have entered Koma in large numbers and visited their targets, picking them from their houses one after the other.
“Those villains calmly carried out their evil intent and left, as freely as they came,” a source said.
Those abducted have been identified as Inspector Yakubu; Hon Bulus Geoffrey (the councillor for Koma Ward); Hammanjida Hammanjalo; Hajiya Amina and two wives of Mallam Hassan, a famous hunter.
The deceased was identified simply as Wawu.

Describing how the hunter’s wives became victims, a source said the suspected kidnappers “visited the house of Malam Hassan who is one of the popular hunters in the area probably to kill him but they didn’t meet him in his house. So they abducted his two wives.”
Hunters and policemen seem to have become targets of kidnappers in Adamawa.
On July 7, a police inspector was abducted during a highway operation on the Numan-Yola road.
The attraction to hunters may be a matter of vengeance as hunters have been collaborating with police in the fight against kidnappers across Adamawa State.
Adamawa Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, who confirmed the Koma abductions, said the command was on the move against the assailants.
“The Police, in conjunction with the local hunters, are currently on the trail of the suspects.
‘’We want to assure all those concerned that we will get the victims freed and the suspects arrested,” the police image maker said.
