Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is now the Director General of the World Trade Organisation
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (NOI) took to her twitter handle to celebrate her recent election as the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) as the First Woman and First African to lead.
According to her tweet she says: ”It is done! Thank you @WTO members for finalizing my election today and making history. In the 73 years of GATT and WTO, honored to be First Woman and First African to lead. But now the real work begins. Ready to tackle the challenges of WTO. Forget Business as usual!”

Even the Nigerian President (Muhammadu Buhari) through his official twitter account also congratulated Dr. Ngozi on her appointment as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation. According to Mr. President: ”On behalf of the Federal Government and all Nigerians, I congratulate @NOIweala on her election as Director General of the World Trade Organisation, bringing joy and more honour to the country”.
