Pastor Alex Tan, 28, made an unsettling discovery while strolling around Cotton Tree Beach on the Sunshine Coast last week.
‘I’m still guessing it’s a possum – my bet of a chicken parmi for any expert who can prove me wrong still stands,’ said Mr Tan, who posted a picture of the strange creature on social media.
Mr Tan, on the other hand, was supported by Stephen Johnston, an assistant professor at the University of Queensland.
‘After consulting with my colleague Heather Janetzki from the Queensland Museum, we are fairly certain that it is a swollen, waterlogged brushtail possum that has lost its fur,’ says the researcher.
‘The clues are in the skull and hindlimb. ‘The animal was most likely washed into the ocean during the floods.’ A chicken parmigiana will suffice.
