Arctic Monkeys announce new album ‘The Car’

The Car, the band Arctic Monkeys’ upcoming album, has been formally unveiled. It will be available on October 21.

Their seventh album will be their first since Tranquility Hotel Base & Casino from last year. Following a concert in Zurich last night, the trio previewed a new song, “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am,” in anticipation of their upcoming headlining appearances at Reading & Leeds this weekend. At Butley Priory in Suffolk, RAK Studios in London, and La Frette in Paris, The Car was recorded. The group’s activities in Suffolk last summer was already known to the general public, but it has now been made official.

For DrumathonLIVE 2022 earlier this year, drummer Matt Helders spoke with Mike Dolbear about the band’s direction with the record. He said, “Musically, it kind of picks up where the last one [Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino] left off.”The strong chords and other elements from the 2012 AM song “R U Mine?” will never be replicated, he continued. Even if it’s not loud, he added, “but there are riffs in there and [it’s] a bit more up-tempo.” It’s challenging to describe! The Car’s track listing may be seen below.
