Google Doodle pays tribute to british opera singer and composer Amanda Aldridge

The Google Doodle for today is dedicated to Amanda Aldridge, an opera singer and renowned composer of parlour music.

Amanda Aldridge was born on March 10, 1866, in London, England, to an acting and musical family. Her mother was a well-known Swedish opera singer, and her father was a well-known African-American stage actor.

She studied vocals and harmonies at London’s Royal College of Music under the tutelage of greats such as Jenny Lind and Sir George Henschel. She pursued her own musical career after graduating.

Amanda Aldridge’s concert career, on the other hand, was cut short after a bout of laryngitis caused a throat injury that damaged her voice. Instead, she became a music teacher, paving the way for her future.
