Iconic Call of Duty Villain Star Actor ‘Kamar de los Reyes’ Dies Aged 56

TV star Kamar de los Reyes, who played an iconic Call of Duty villain and appeared in the soap opera One Life to Live, has died aged 56 after being diagnosed with cancer.

The actor, who was born in Puerto Rico in 1967, was best known for his portrayal of Antonio Vega on the soap opera One Life to Live, which he played for 14 years from 1995 to 2009.

He also made a memorable turn as the villainous antagonist Raul Menendez in the 2012 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops II, a role he reprised in Call of Duty: Black Ops IV and Call of Duty: Vanguard, the last of which came out in 2022.

The actor died shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, it was announced.

The news of his death was confirmed to Variety by his wife’s publicist, with tributes immediately pouring in from devastated fans on social media.

Gaming YouTuber MrTLexify posted on X: ‘RIP Kamar de los Reyes.

‘The actor behind the BEST COD VILLAIN Raul Menendez. God Bless you in the Afterlife and May your Family mourn in Peace!’

One Call of Duty fan said: ‘This one hurt like hell! One of the best villains out there. 56 is no age at all, and it makes me so sad. R.I.P. Kamar de los Reyes.’

A One Life to Live fan wrote: ‘The soap world has lost tremendously this year. I’m at a loss.

‘I’m sad for his wife and young boys. He most definitely was one of my OLTL favs! Rest in peace Kamar de los Reyes. The one and only Antonio Vega #OLTL.’

Someone else added: ‘I needed a moment before I posted this. My heart goes out to Kamar’s children, Sherri, the OLTL family. Deeply saddened😢.’

De los Reyes led a varied career throughout his life, including roles in ER, Promised Land and Law & Order.

He also appeared in CSI: Miami, The Mentalist, Blue Bloods, Pretty Little Liars and Sleepy Hollow.

De los Reyes is survived by his wife Sherri Saum, who he starred alongside in One Life to Live and who he married in 2007.

The couple welcomed twin sons Michael and John together, and de los Reyes also had a son named Caylen from a previous relationship
