FCDO: The United Kingdom has warned its citizens against travelling to 22 states in Nigeria
On Monday, November 7, 2022, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) made this announcement in a statement that was posted on its website.
The country’s security status is related to the warning.
Remember how the UK government limited entry to the British High Commission in Abuja after issuing a warning in October about an elevated threat of terrorist attack in the Federal Capital Territory?
The UK stated that the warning is intended to help its citizens make better-informed judgments regarding foreign travel and plan for a trouble-free journey in the statement titled “Updated Foreign Commonwealth Development Office Travel Advice to British Nationals Traveling to the FCT.”
In addition, we strongly advise against traveling to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and the riverine regions of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.
“The UK regularly reviews its travel advice, and when making these evaluations, it draws on data from a variety of sources.
To ensure that it accurately reflects the most recent developments in Abuja and Nigeria, the travel advice is regularly revised. The FCDO Travel Advice makes it clear that there are still risks even though it no longer discourages travel to the Federal Capital Territory, including the city of Abuja, unless absolutely necessary.
