Before jumping off the tower, clients are asked to disclose any medical conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes or previous surgery. The tower itself is 338m (1100ft) high, but the bungee platform is at 233m (764ft).

Solo participants pay 2,888 Macanese pataca (£282) to jump off the tower. Construction of the Macau Tower, modelled on the Skytower in Auckland, New Zealand, began in 1998.

The two observation decks offer 360-degree’ views of the entire Macau Peninsula, Taipa, and Coloane. The tower features a range of restaurants, cinema, a casino, waterfront views at the ground floor outdoor plaza and shopping that includes a Toys’R’Us and ISA outlets.

Skypark has operated over four million successful jumps, with the company priding itself on a “perfect safety record”. Its website states: “We strive to achieve a high level of safety for our customers and crew.”

On TripAdvisor, many tourists have left positive reviews on their experience as one wrote: “Going through the highest official bungee jumping experience on the planet was nothing short of breathtaking, the jump was even more astonishing than how I expected.” Another added: “This was a bucket list trip for me since I came to China in 2019. It just had to wait for Covid to get a little better so I could get back into Macau.

“It was worth the wait. This SUPER scary, extremely fun bungy jump was a blast. The staff at AJ Hackett has amazing customer service in person, on the phone and through emails. They made sure I was comfortable through the entire process.”
