Nigeria: ASUU extends strike by 3 months
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the strike which was to end on Monday, May 9 by 12 weeks, elongating the industrial action to July 2022.
Punch reports that the National President of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodeke, in a signed statement said the extension was to give the government sufficient time to resolve its issues with the union.
The decision was made by the union after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which started on Sunday night at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja.
The statement added that the extension took effect from 12:01 am on May 9, 2022.
